Will it work on my work computer?
It depends on your company’s rules. Here is what we know, plainly, and how to check it on your own computer before paying.
Check before you pay
- Download TeamsActivo. The download is free and asks for no details.
- Install it. On Windows and Linux it installs for your user, with no administrator rights.
- Open the menu and choose "Comprobar este equipo" (Check this computer). It tells you whether it can work here and, if not, what is stopping it.
- If everything is fine, subscribe and enter your key. You have a 10-day trial: if your computer does not allow it, cancel and you pay nothing.
Windows
It installs in your user folder and does not touch system settings, so it needs no administrator rights.
| Situation | Does it work? | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| Personal computer | Works | No special steps. |
| Work computer without administrator rights | Works | As long as the company allows PowerShell scripts to run, which is usual when there is no application control. |
| Behind a proxy that asks for a username and password | Works | It uses the proxy and the credentials of your Windows session. |
| The downloaded file shows as "blocked" | Needs a step | Before unzipping: right-click the zip, Properties, tick "Unblock". |
| The company only allows signed scripts (execution policy set by GPO) | Will not work | TeamsActivo scripts are not yet signed with a code-signing certificate. |
| Application control (AppLocker or WDAC) | Will not work | It would only work if your IT department expressly authorises it. |
| Antivirus or EDR that forbids simulated keyboard or mouse input | Will not work | It may block or quarantine it. That cannot and should not be bypassed. |
| Remote desktop, Citrix or AVD | Needs a step | It works while the session is connected. When you disconnect, the session locks and it pauses. |
macOS
It needs Accessibility permission, which is what lets it move the pointer. Granting it asks for a Mac administrator password, once.
| Situation | Does it work? | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| Personal Mac, or work Mac with an administrator account | Needs a step | The first time, macOS warns that it cannot check the app: open it from System Settings, Privacy & Security, "Open Anyway". Then grant Accessibility. |
| Work Mac with a standard account (no administrator) | Will not work | Without an administrator password Accessibility cannot be granted. It would only work if IT authorises it. |
| The company only allows App Store apps or an approved list | Will not work | TeamsActivo is not on the App Store. |
| Intel or Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 13 or later | Works | The same download works on both. |
Linux
It installs without root. What changes between computers is the type of graphical session.
| Situation | Does it work? | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| X11 session (GNOME on Xorg, KDE on X11, XFCE, MATE…) | Works | It simulates activity with nothing else to install. |
| Wayland session (the default on recent Ubuntu and Fedora) | Needs a step | Without root it cannot simulate activity and Teams may mark you Away. Fix: on the login screen, choose "GNOME on Xorg" or your desktop’s X11 session. |
| Home folder mounted without execute permission | Needs a step | Install with "bash install.sh"; the installer tells you the exact command to activate the licence. |
| Execution allow-lists (fapolicyd and similar) | Will not work | Only with authorisation from IT. |
Android
It installs from an APK file, outside Google Play. It keeps the screen on while Teams is in the foreground.
| Situation | Does it work? | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| Personal phone | Needs a step | You have to allow installing from the browser. On Android 15 or later, also "Allow restricted settings" in the app info; the app guides you. |
| Phone with a work profile (Teams inside the profile) | Needs a step | The app, installed on the personal side, cannot see Teams in the work profile: only manual mode is useful. |
| Phone fully managed by the company | Will not work | It does not allow installing apps from outside the store. |
| iPhone and iPad | Will not work | There is no app: iOS does not allow it. Only the auto-lock settings help. |
What no tool can prevent
- If your company forces the screen to lock after a few minutes, Teams will mark you Away when it locks. TeamsActivo does not prevent locking.
- With the laptop lid closed, the computer goes to sleep.
- The app checks the licence over the internet. If your company network blocks teams-active.es and you never connect from another network, it will stop working after 72 hours.
If your company does not allow it
Do not try to get around the controls on your computer. If TeamsActivo cannot work on it, no trick will fix that, and we do not want you to have a problem at work.
Cancel during the 10-day trial from your account and you are not charged. And if you have already paid and could not use it, write to matias@jackson-strong.es.
Frequently asked questions
Can I install TeamsActivo on a work laptop without being an administrator?
On Windows and Linux, yes: it installs for your user. On Windows it will not work if your company uses application control (AppLocker or WDAC) or only allows signed scripts. On a Mac you need an administrator password once, to grant Accessibility permission.
How do I know whether it will work on my computer before paying?
Download and install it, which is free, and choose "Comprobar este equipo" (Check this computer) in the menu. It tells you whether it can work and what is stopping it. You also have a 10-day free trial.
What if I pay and my company blocks it?
During the 10-day trial you can cancel from your account without being charged. There is no minimum term: you can cancel whenever you like.
